Planning Issues

Buckinghamshire Local Plan

The Parish Council is carrying out a public consultation with our residents on the Local Plan for Buckinghamshire which is being developed by Buckinghamshire Council. We are holding two consultation events in August 2026. Please click here Consultation Dates to find out more about the consultation and how you can have your say.

Richborough Homes/Manor Oak Planning Application Appeal

Stoke Mandeville Parish Council is supporting Buckinghamshire Council in fighting the Appeal against planning permission refusal in the fields south of Station Road, between Wendover Road and Risborough Road. Please click here to find out more about our involvement in the Appeal and how you can help Richborough Appeal. Please also note that Buckinghamshire Council has allocated more housing in that area in the draft Local Plan so if you are opposed to housing being built there, please come along to the Local Plan consultation – there is one in person at the Eskdale Road Community Centre on 25th August and one online on 27th August on Teams.

Neighbourhood Plan (approved and adopted in July 2026)

Stoke Mandeville Parish Council now has a made Neighbourhood Plan which you can learn more about here Neighbourhood Plan. It’s important that you reference the Neighbourhood Plan where relevant in any planning objections as it has full weight in planning decisions now that it is adopted, and will underpin or undermine your objections or support for planning decisions as a material consideration.

Buckinghamshire Council Sports and Social Club site.

The Parish Council put in a bid in 2025 to buy this site in order to run it as a community sports and leisure facility, and subsequently won a Judicial Review to quash the planning permission for 100 homes which Buckinghamshire Council had awarded itself. Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful in getting it re-registered as an Asset of Community Value, and we also attempted to designate the site as a Local Green Space in the Neighbourhood Plan, but this was rejected by the Examiner because Buckinghamshire Council’s agents, Savills, claimed (erroneously) that there was an outstanding planning application in process on the site. However, we are hopeful that Buckinghamshire Council will not successfully allocate this as housing in the Local Plan, and that we will be able to buy the site from them – and hoping to have this resolved either way in late 2026. For more on this, contact the Parish Council via the Clerk.
