VE-DAY 80th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
On the 8th May the Parish Council celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe D-Day with a number of events across the whole day. The day started with a flag raising ceremony on the Village attended by residents and pupils of the local school. Cllr Dean Field raised the flag on behalf of the Parish Council. Focus then turned to the Church where there was an exhibition of memorabilia, from medals to kit bags. Throughout the morning there were a series of talks from relatives whose parents had served in the war. For those attending there was a chance to riminess over coffee and cake service by members of the Church. Outside the Bull there was a mobile cinema showing short films of what it was like for those in the village during the war.

The evening entertainment was provided by the Polka Dots, a swing and jive trio, who entertained everyone with songs from the 1940s and 1950s. of residents to get their stories from that day. All through out the evening fish and chips were available in the pub car park. Once again the Polka Dots, a swing and jive trio, entertained everyone with songs from the 1940s and 1950s.

Once the entertainment finished everyone made their way over to the Village Green for the lighting of the Lamp of Peace and the lowering of the flag. Before the lighting, the Reverend Keith Justice, and Parish Council Chair Kirsty Shanahan performed some readings. Following the lighting of the lamp there was a minutes silence.
The Parish Council would like to thank Fremantle Care Home, The Bull, Stoke Mandeville School and all the residents who supported the day.​​
